This is easily accessible to public, and the several temples in for different gods are built well. But it would be a little difficult for elderly people as one has to climb few high and narrow steps before reaching the place of god.

As part of the Arupadai Veedu temples of Lord Muruga, this temple is one of the most impressive of Murugan temples anywhere in the world. Believed to be the place where Muruga taught his own father (Lord Shiva), don't miss out on visiting this temple when you are in Kumbakonam.

One of the six temples for Lord Muruga , Lord is majestic , stairs are there to be climbed . Not that much of crowd . Thirumananjeri Thiruvalanchuzhi Patteswaram Thiru kanjanur Sri nama Bodenthral Swamigal Adishthanam are all nearby temples .

Swamimalai is the fourth Sacred Shrine among the six abodes of Murugan Temples. We personally connected to this holy shrine. Swamimalai is located 6 kms away from kumbakonam. We had a nice darshan here. We tried sukku outside the temple premises and it was one of the best drink we had. Every one in our family felt the same.

Located close to city.easily accessible by local transport.for those who drive down,there is a huge car park behind the temple where you can park and walk down.

The temple is 8 kms from Kumbakonam bus stand.30 -40 minutes.Take the bus number 1 and it charges 5 /- .The temple is walk-able from the swamimalai bus stop.The temple has 60 steps which can be easily climbed. Avail the 50/- rupee special dharsan queue to have the best view of lord Murugan.I dont think any good hotels are near... More

Swamimalai is around 10 kms from Kumbhakonam. You have frequent number of buses. If you opt for auto, they will charge around Rs. 400/- for to and fro where as Rs. 12/- is the bus charge. If you are planning to give vastram ( cloth ) for God, better you purchase from Kumbhakonam itself other pooja materials like garland, deepam... More

We visited this temple on the way from Trichy to Kumbakonam. The temple has a huge rush and we took the Rs. 50 ticket to get faster darshan. Its supposed to be one the 5 houses of Lord Murugan.
