Hidden treasure of Sicilian culture and history
Aug 2019
We visit Bronte for a special Pistachio croissant at Life Cafe every time we are in Sicily. We had family from overseas with us this time and were looking for something other than just the croissant to do in the area because they thought it was kind of a long drive for a croissant (we think it is worth it!). We saw this on TripAdvisor and thought we would give it a try. We went with no expectations but were so happy we did. We were a mixed part of 5 Americans and 4 Sicilians from Catania. All of us loved the visit. This is the best collection of Sicilan
carrettti" I have ever seen. It is not always that you can get so close the the carts and really study the artwork and the structure. This is a private museum run by a family. The young son that showed us told us about the history and culture of the carretti and had so much knowledge. He was part of what made the visit special as he had interesting stories, old Sicilian sayings and his own personal perspectives on the state of Sicilian life and culture to share. We truly enjoyed this visit and as a bonus got to meet the family horse, a beautiful and sweet animal. I don't always think of horses as sweet but this one was. The museum is worth the time and has only a tiny fee to pay! Go there!

My compliments - great collection!

Our tour guide had been proposing this privately run museum located at the outskirts of Bronte.
Hats off!
This is an extremely interesting collection of those carretti. Not too big but also not too small. The owner has lots of knowledge on that. On the walls you can find all pictures how these carretti had been used in the past.
The owner led us through his exhibition giving us detailed hints about the meaning of this or that image drawn on the wagons.
Do not miss this extraordinary collection of extraordinary things!

Worth the drive

We rented a car and followed the GPS to this awesome display however we found that a phone call is highly suggested first to ensure the curator is available. The carts are the finest collection in the world and I am serious. Look under the carts to see even more art. !There was a fee! We were told normally $5 per person and some information in Italian only. Camera photography is welcome. Fantastic!
