There are some nice hikes here for all levels of hiking ability, but the biggest attraction is the ancient city of Gamla, built 2000 years ago and rediscovered in 1968, after the 6 day war. The hike down is a bit of a scramble on...More

Gamla is an ancient walled city from Joshua's time. This fortified settlement is perched on a mountain ridge shaped like a camel's hump. Destroyed, it was resettled by the Greeks in the mid-second century BCE. They had revolted against the Romans in 66 CE. Gamla...More

We were here about 15 years ago, when this spot was 5 Star, instead of 3 Star. The ruins of Gamla are very interesting, but not easily accessible unless arriving by an organized bus tour. If you arrive on your own, you need to walk...More

We don't hear much about gamma compared to masada, and yet the heroism and bravery of the defenders are the same. A great trail with a brilliant story to match. Great scenery a must visit.

It was a hot day in September. The hike to the fall is long and sunny, with no real fall at the end of the trail. We saw two eagles flying high in the sky, but that was it. We are not sure when in...More
