Mike Moore is a terrific ship captain, environmentalist, story-teller and font of marine knowledge. My husband and I have done one day trip and three overnight trips with Misty Isles and have never been disappointed. Our second last trip was to Bute Inlet, where we saw two dozen grizzly bears - totally awesome. Last week, we travelled with 10 others... More

It was an unforgettable trip! We started from Cortes Bay. Sailed in a rainy and windy weather. But, hey!–– we put sails up, and the rain did not bother us at all. We could take cover inside the cabin or stay outside. The crew: captain Mike, Samantha and Christine were keeping us busy, well informed, well nourished, warm with hot... More

I have to admit that I was very uneasy about this trip at first: darkness and the deep ocean sounded kind of scary. But our tour guide Christine (a teacher by profession) was so calm and taught us what to do to be safe and relaxed. She was a truly outstanding guide! She gave lots of helpful information about the... More

We had a fantastic experience on Misty Isles visiting Cassel lake and overnighting at the spectacular lodge on Twin Islands. A knowledgeable skipper, superb locations, great food, sublime weather, good company and the opportunity to review the off-grid facilities on Twin Island made this an unforgettable trip. Looking forward to the next time!

Great trip! Very knowledgeable and competent captain Mike. Informative historically and environmentally. Beautiful day out on the ocean crossing desolation sound off my bucket list. Highly recommend this trip.

Overall the experience of kayaking at night and seeing the bioluminescence was cool. It was advertised and priced as a 3 hour tour scheduled to start at 8 pm. Unfortunately the actual time spent kayaking on the water was closer to 1.75 hours, as the time spent organizing everyone at the meeting place, unloading and organizing the kayaks meant that... Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts Catherine. We do appreciate it and will take a look at updating our advertising for next season. But this was indeed a 3 hour outing. Doing the 5 minute drive to the location, getting geared up and a little instructional time is a part of the process of kayaking. This trip... More

Our group of 6 had the most magnificent day on the water with Mike Moore on August 6 th We chose this date as Mike let us know there was an extra low tide that day Cruised out of Heriot Bay in the rain Luckily Mike had the tarp over the rear deck and provided an assortment of rain slicks... More

I booked a day trip to Desolation Sound with Misty Isles for a family group of 9. Our gang included our 87 year old, not overly mobile parents and our lively 13 year old nephew. The crew was outstanding in their care and attention for our parents and in their ability to engage and involve my young nephew. The schooner... More

Over the span of more than a decade (commencing 2005) my wife and I (with our grown children and their families plus assorted family friends) have chartered the unique schooner-rigged fishing-boat-style motor/sailing vessel Misty Isles for a day adventure exploring the beautiful Cortes Island area, Desolation Sound, and surrounding channels and inlets, taken during our yearly family 1-week vacations on... A great way to see a remote area in rustic comfort. A solid boat with plenty of room for our group of 12. See the sites before the yachts get there in June - snow capped mountains, narrow tidal surges, learn the geology and history of the area. Mike has plenty of talks to let you know where you are...
