I travelled to Mrauk U in February for 3 days. I was worried if I can find anyone speaking English here - it is a HUGE problem in Myanmar. That's how I contacted Myint after I came across good reviews about him. It was a...More

It is worth visiting. Though it is a bit far, it can not let you down here. One day is enough, but it is still better if two days are passed. Sometimes the ferry is canceled, so be careful about the traffic. Check in the...More

I wouldn’t recommend the ruins of Mrauk U. However just being so off the beaten track and the journey itself to Rakhine state was an experience of it’s own that I really enjoyed. People who write that these ruins are as good as Bagan are...More

A place with impressive history. Mrauk U is a little complicated to reach, but it is definitely worth the travel effort. It is quite different from the rest of Myanmar. It is worth taking a guide to get the most out of this unique site,...More

We spent a couple of days here in January 2018. This archaeological area is still in a raw, almost untouched state. Get here before it changes! Stunning.

This place can be potentially turned into the next Angkor Wat-like tourist site! Lots of pagodas, templates scattered across Mrauk U. The town itself was the capital of the Arakan Kingdom with foreign traders presence so there are a lot to see. Better if you...More

Hard to get there, but worthy the visit! This was my favorite place in Myanmar! It takes the whole day to get there by bus from Yangon, but once there, it is a beautiful experience! The ruins are just as beautiful as Bagan and is...More

Nay Chay was an excellent guide who organized every aspect of our travel to and from Mrauk U. He is a local and knows everyone, can find places of interests (weaving observations, bicycle rental, boat tickets, etc.) not mentioned in the any guidebook. We had...More

My boyfriend and I went to Mrauk U because we wanted to see the old temples and the authentic and unvarnished site of the country. Since we heard that it is a bit difficult to get there, we considered signing up for an organised tour....More

You feel the history here. Smaller than Bagan but incomparable. Both are great in their own ways. Here, temples are still being uncovered. Yes, it's hard to get to, but it is worth it all - especially before it becomes touristy like Bagan. You can...More
