About
The castle overlooks the town and hits the visitor for his gothic architecture. It's front is made of bricks with little arches. Few the windows, and only at the top. The way in was guarded by a wide ditch, a rolling shutter and a drawbridge. Inside you can see still some fireplaces, wood ceilings and a chapel with frescoes.

Wow! What an incredible visit! This was our 4th time visiting Langhe, but our first time visiting the Serralunga Castle. We wish that we had visited during past trips, because it was an incredible visit.

In order to visit the castle, it is necessary to schedule a tour. We emailed the day before, info@castellodiserralunga.it , and they were luckily able to accommodate us for a visit the following day on short notice, and we are so happy they did.

The tour was scheduled to be in Italian, but our tour guide explained everything in both Italian and English, which was a very nice surprise. This history behind the castle was incredible, as well as the innovation that went into engineering such an incredible structure. The final stop of the tour is to the top room of the castle, which offers the most incredible view of Serralunga that we've ever seen, and one of the most breathtaking sites we've ever seen anywhere in the world.

A beautiful landmark with a passionate guide. Its true there is very little inside, thanks to the Spanish of 1661 but Massimiliano (sorry if I didn't spell it correctly) was so informed and passionate it was a pleasure to hear him talk. Recommended but unfortunately not open all week.

The only way to access this splendid medieval castle is on a guided tour which will be given in Italian. If you aren’t fluent, don’t worry— they have a fairly comprehensive text in English you can follow along with. Our knowledgeable guide, Sara, also took the time to explain some of the more detailed information in English, too. You’ll learn the history of the castle’s owners, how the castle was defended throughout the centuries, and when and how it was finally breached. It’s a fascinating look at how people lived and how communities functioned throughout the ages. The views of the Piemonte countryside from the top are fantastic!

The Castello is one of many beatuiful castles and churces in Piedmont - there seems to be one on evrey oher hilltop. The view of the surrondings is well worth the short walk up the hill thorugh the old streets of the city of Serralunga

The castle tour is guided and as advised beforehand 100% in Italian. Whilst it is interesting just a few words or phrases in English would make all the difference to those of us who are mono linguists.

While the current castle was only completed in the 14th century, there are remnants of the original tower build in the 12th century. For most of it history, this castle was the property of the Falletti family, like several other castles in the region. This one is the most impressive and has the design of a medieval French fort. While the influence of the Falletti's waned in the late 19th century because of the absence of direct descendants, the castle was acquired by the government in 1949 and initiated important restoration works. It is listed on Italy's protected cultural heritage list and is open to visitors for a token entrance fee.

After wine tasting near the town, we drove to see the castle. It is beautifully restored. It was closed, since
it was vacation time in Italy. Lots of little shops with wonderful Italian food and treats.

It is a very interesting castle. The only way to see it is to visit it with a guided tour. The place is popular, so in advance reservation is required. We have been very lucky to have an excellent guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about both the history of the castle and the area. The group consisted of people from different countries, so she was delivering the information in both Italian and English. She was very attentive and patient making sure that everyone understood everything she was saying and readily answering numerous questions. It was obvious to all group how much she loves the area she leaves in and was so happy to share her love with us. It is one of those rare cases in our present times, when someone comes to work to do his/her best at it. Thank you so much for such professional work!

Had a wonderful tour in English by our guide. She was very knowledgeable and happily answered our questions regarding the history of the place. Highly recommend as it is inexpensive and an hour well spent. Would love to totally spend a day exploring all the nooks and crannies available, yet only allowed to explore via guided tour.

Highly recommend.
