Wonderful long walking path along the river

Great for cooling off and seeing people out, enjoying some open air, away from the density of teh city.

The most famous of the city’s parks is a 5km-long sliver in the Xiāng River. It is a very Chinese park. There are plenty of green spaces with parks and pavilions on Tangerine Island. There is a huge statue of Mao on the Island that is very unique. There is not much to draw in foreigners but if you are in Changsha, it is worth a visit.

It is a very industrialised river in a large city. The water stays a drab yellow-brownish green. It is interesting to watch the ships go by and some of the bridges are nice, but this is not an "idyllic" postcard type river. It's best viewed for afar.

We walked along the riverside walk waiting for the fireworks to begin. There were enormous crowds and some loud music at the riverside bars. The fireworks started late and were quite disappointing.
