Stunning Church, though some locals we were talking to said it was a cathedral. Great little taverna's opposite too.

We don’t usually visit churches on holiday, as we prefer to be respectfully dressed while doing so. However, we found ourselves at the church and dressed appropriately so went inside. The iconography is gorgeous - every inch of the interior is either gilded or painted....More

Visited the site in Macharaido whwere there is a church and a bell tower and where a lot of the artefacts at Agios Dionisios originated from. This church is well worth a visit. Very peaceful and full of artefacts with stories attached

Not so beautiful a building from the outside but certainly is when you step inside It is nice to sit for a while enjoying the peace away from the traffic noise and taking in the lovely paintings etc

We did a day trip to Zakynthos town and visited this lovely church. The Greek Orthodox style with lots of gold and lovely icons makes the church very impressive for someone used to a plain protestant church. You could visit the tomb of St. Denis...More

This relatively modern church with it's separate bell tower is positioned opposite to the entrance to the port. The exterior is stylish but relatively plain and belies what lies within. The interior is truly magnificent; having painted walls and ceiling, akin to the Cistine Chapel....More
