I had just left Wall Drug and was ready to see what the Badlands are all about! Amazing! Just a few miles from Wall, you are on the Loop Road and there's so much to take in visually and pictures will be but a pleasant reminder of what your eyes saw. Bison were near the road and I was treated... More

Beautiful rock formations with vibrant colored layers. Breathtaking views along the loop road, with multiple places to pull over and walk closer to the edge of the formations. One of my favorite national parks - a must-see if you're driving through the area.

We were in Rapid City for five days and one was devoted to seeing the Badlands. We close a perfect day…not a cloud in the sky! One drawback…it’s 70+ miles to the eastern entrance! However, once there, the awesome beauty of these eroded land forms becomes overwhelming. It’s like having a “Kodak moment” around every curve of highway 240! The... More

I was doing a cross country trip and was on I-90 crossing through South Dakota. There's no way I wasn't going to stop here. It's a beautiful park. I wish I had more time. But I wouldn't go out of my way just to come here. Reminds me of the South West but not as "epic" if you will. With... More

Be sure to drive the Loop Road in Badlands National Park. You will see and experience more if you stop at the trail heads and explore a few trails. Be sure to stay on the marked path or follow signposts.

Don't miss Badlands National Park! The scenery is unlike anything you've ever seen. This is a huge park, but you can drive most of it along the loop road, which is what my husband and I did. You don't even have to leave the car, but you'll want to, trust me. There are plenty of places to pull to the... More

This is an amazing road trip destination. The views both from the car and out and about are amazing. The pure magnitude of the area really sets in when you arrive. Stay a while and take your time, get out of your vehicle, and breathe it in.

When driving along Interstate 90 you've got to take the time to drive through Badlands National Park. This place is nothing like home. Surreal landscape, today we saw mule deer, buffalo, big horn sheep, a badger, a harrier, and of course prairie dogs. It is worth the extra time in your travels.

If you're driving through South Dakota and you haven't seen the Badlands yet - drive the loop! It's not a hard drive - and it could be a 1 hour or a significantly longer activity. I stopped at about 6 of the view points and it took me about 2 1/2 hours. The sweeping landscapes with soaring rock formations, wildlife,... More
