A great place to see Buffalo. The Badlands are a must see when in South Dakota. We stayed in the cabins at Custer State Park.

We were lucky enough to see them all. Follow this gravel road out, especially just before dusk to see the animals moving around. The sun provides perfect lighting this time of day too. I've read the animals are less active during the heat of the...More

Took some TripAdvisor reviewers advice and drove the Rim Road. It was scenic and beautiful, but to be honest, not all that I was expecting. I actually enjoyed our time in the Badlands way more because you were so much closer to the gorgeous rock...More

Recently rode the Badlands on my Harley with a friend. Such a change of geography from Wisconsin and the South of which, I'm familiar. Rugged, vast and desolate were the words that first came to mind. It's a beauty all in its own. We passed...More

This area is where the buffalo can be found in the Badlands. The Big Horn Sheep graze in this area also. Great for pictures.

A great wilderness area and we spotted a few of the local wildlife just hanging around. It is off the Loop so do not miss it!

The Sage Creek area of Badlands NP is an undervalued section of the park. While most people seemed to exit at Pinnacles after completing the Rim Road, we continued on along Sage Creek Road to Scenic, SD. Our experience was like being on a prairie...More

Sage Creek area is on the Rim Road, not the Loop Road. It is a dirt road, so be careful if it has been raining. Also a couple great overlooks in this area,

As long as it has not rained in the last couple days, the road is suitable for any vehicle in good working order. Our minivan rides low like a sedan, and we had no trouble.
