This is not a very long hike (1/2 mile) but it is more strenuous than walking on a level grade. Beware of the rattlesnakes (signs posted where there could be a problem). We never saw or heard any. The views here are incredible. This is...More

This would make a great early evening hike if you’re looking to kill some time before the evening ranger program. Easy stroll on boardwalk/paved paths. Good view of Notch Trail Trail end. Saw some pronghorn in the woods.

This hike was cool because we could see the cliff where we were on the Notch Trail hike. It might take some coordination, but that would be a good pic if you had a photographer on the top of the Cliff Shelf Trail taking a...More

A nice 1/2 mile hike on well maintained loop trail through a juniper forest. Nice views of the Badlands. Saw lots of birds on this short hike. Lots of steps on stairs. It was our favorite hike in the Badlands.

Stunning views of the strange landscape called the Badlands. There are trails you can walk to explore and area and learn how the area was transformed into this "exotic wasteland". It is a beautiful area to take in.

This is a pretty good nature trail...it is easy and you can easily do it. There is information that helps you understand the formation of the formations. Ames a good introduction to the Badlands.

We usually skip "nature trails" because they're geared toward plant education, and not very scenic. This one is a different story. It's also worth doing because it's very different than the other trails in Badlands. It winds through a juniper growth area. Nice views, easy...More

These formations were made from water working its way down through the softer surroundings. Read all the information on the sign for a greater explanation.

This hike has stairs, but the boarded trail is very wide and not too strenuous, and gives you a good taste of the Badlands. There are numerous offshoots for those that are more adventurous. A lot of vegetation on this trail, unlike most of the...More
