This is a 3.6 (I thought it was nearer 4) mile loop with almost 600 feet in change of elevation. Most of this 600 feet comes in the first mile. It was quite breezy at the plateau even thought almost no wind at the trailhead....More

Probably the best time to hike is in the afternoon when the sun is to your back to the Chimney Rock so that you can get the best pictures. We went in the morning and we still got some nic photos.

Awesome trail, but I highly recommend starting early in the morning so there is no problem with parking. It is one of the most popular trails, the parking lot fills up early. Besides, if you start early, you beat the crowds and the heat!

We only did the first part of the loop due to time constraints but there were great views all around! Would like to come back to do this hike in its entirety!

This loop trail offers great views of its namesake rock formation plus Spring Canyon. Most of the elevation gain occurs in the first part of the trail.

We did this hike late afternoon on the way back to our hotel. It's quite short but strenuous at times. Fantastic views and a great overlook over Chimney Rock. You will need sensible shoes and plenty of water.

We hiked this trail on the recommendation of the visitor center. Spectacular views, so this is a must for visitors to Capitol Reef.
