The elevators were not working when we visited. Therefore we had to walk down and back up, which we had been advised of before starting. We suggest reading information on the history of the caverns before arriving so you will not need the audio tour...More

Hard to imagine the first explorers going in the first time with limited gear and lighting. The scale of this place is mind boggling. Absolutely a must see place. The bat flight is surreal. 20 million + bats swirling out of the natural entrance is...More

This is a wonderful place to visit. It must be one of the most magnificent cave systems I have ever visited. You have the option to hike in through the natural cave entrance, or take the elevator down. We opted to hike in, which I...More

Our family visited Carlsbad Caverns during our summer vacation. You have to see it to believe it. The Big Room is incredible. We entered via the elevators. The wait time going down was very short. The wait time going back up was approximately 20 minutes....not...More

This Park blew my mind. The intricacy and ornateness of the cave deposits are incredible - popcorn, huge stalagmites and stalactites. I was really impressed with how well-lit features were. It made for some awesome photos throughout the 1.5hour self-guided tour. We didn't pay for...More

At just ten dollars entry, this has to be the most incredible value for money sightseeing trip I have ever experienced. The walk down 750 feet into the caverns is steep, so wear sensible footwear and take your time. I was worried that I may...More

We decided to hike down the Natural Entrance. You enter through the same entrance where the evening bat flight begins. Make sure to stay for that experience! The trail winds down 800 feet of wonder. The temperature is a constant 56 degrees, so consider bringing...More

I believe it was a 1.5 mile walk down to where the elevator is. It would be a steep trek back up.

No, this is not pet friendly. Like all National Parks, a big part of their mission is to protect the natural environment which pets can often stress. Due to the high temperatures in the area, pets are not permitted to be... More
