We love it here! Yes it's a drive out and nothing around here so plan accordingly. You need a good several hours to do the whole thing plus an hour to drive in up and down the hilly highways. Pretty cool scenery when we drove in this time because it was about to rain so part of the mountains were... More

This experience was incredible. The elevator takes you 80 stories underground to start your tour. The "big room" is so big it cannot be adequately described- it must be experienced. Probably the coolest point was looking down into the lower caves which are huge also but off limits as they are being studied. These truly are a world class natural... More

Seriously. My husband and I both were here when we were kids, we still had great memories and yet, we were totally awed this time!! It's just---- fantastic! We drove straight out from Phoenix on our way to Santa Fe (yep, that much of a detour!) just to see the Caverns. And we were so glad we did. We did... More

My daughter had studied about Carlsbad Cavern at school and during our trip to Colorado we had the opportunity to stop there. It's totally awesome. I've never been to any cave before and I loved that experience.

Everything they offer is simply great. There are several tour options available, from physically easy to those which require some exertion (like repelling by rope into the darkness!) Unlike many caverns, here you can roam about some of the best areas on your own or sign up for group tours. The only warning is that Carlsbad is "the mother of... More

We took the walking entrance down and it gives you a whole different perspective on how deep this cavern is. With two pre-schoolers, it took us about an hour. They do have benches spaced throughout so you can rest. They also have water and a few snacks at the bottom along with restrooms for use before walking the big room.... More

Carlsbad Caverns are an absolutely breathtaking natural resource. We were fortunate to have gotten into the Big Room early before too many visitors had arrived so that we could quietly marvel in the natural beauty. Unfortunately, the National Park Service allows children to purchase toy plastic helmets with headlamps from the gift shop and then use them in the cavern.... More

I've been to many caverns before, but Carlsbad blew all the others out of the water. There are so many rooms and so much to explore, you could spend a couple hours going from the top down to the bottom and through the Big Room. It's also just incredibly amazing to me that this is just a huge cave on... More

We'd visited here decades ago but had forgotten the grandeur, vastness, enormity, and magnificence of this place. Of course, photos, don't do justice but ever where we looked we gasped in wonder at the beautiy of the Caverns.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park Visitor Center is one of the more helpful visitor centers in our national park system. They are very organized and have a lot going on throughout the day. If you have mobility issues, this park is the one for you.
