When my husband and I arrived, it was cold, cloudy and there was snow on the ground. As we drove around the rim, the sun slowly came out and it turned in to a beautiful morning. The color of the lake is amazing...something you definitely have to see!

We went in the first part of May so all sides except the south side were closed. It was so worth it! The visitors center is always open except in the worst weather. Snow was three cars high along the road and the center was buried but had the door shoveled. It felt like we were in a snow cave.... More

Have your camera ready, because about every pullout will prompt the need to record myriad amounts of bodacious scenery.

I have tried to do the rim drive many times, but have been stopped by snow and road construction. I finally made it. Crater Lake National Park is absolutely stunning- the drive around the rim is just breathtaking.

Crater Lake National Park is absolutely stunning- the drive around the rim is just breathtaking. There was road construction happening in the park while we were there and it did not detract from the beauty at all. Go see it at sunrise as well! Also, go at night to see the stars in the park- gorgeous!!!

Even with having only one day to spend at Crater National Park, and being the most likely only rainy day in July, The Rim Drive was just incredible. Due to the hard, long winter, the Rim Drive was only open half way for vehicles, and the rainy day limited the view for the most part. We did get lucky, and... More

This drive offers so many different views of crater lake that at first before you take the drive may appear all the same. Each stop on the drive offers new and completely different looks from different elevations of the lake and the crater. Many upper easy short trails to walk and enjoy the scenery.

This is a great scenic drive around the park. Our favorite stop was probably the Watchman because it has a good view of Wizard island. The Phantom Ship overlook was cool, too. The only negative was the road construction that slowed down traffic, but since there is so much snow here (even in July there was a lot of snow... More

Not only for the great views and no driving hassle (dangerous road) but the rangers know so much and add a great deal. I'd almost advise doing it twice with different rangers and hope to get different pulloff stops!
