What a spectacular drive with outstanding views all along the way! The rim road is a challenging drive and not for the faint at heart. My best description of that drive is that it's like balancing your vehicle on the rim of a teacup. Beautiful but a little nerve-racking. It's worth every minute!

If you are at Crater Lake you must do the Rim Drive. Most of the scenic attractions can be seen from it and there is car parking to stop and enjoy the sights.

This is probably the best way to take in the view of the lake - traffic isn't too busy (or it wasn't when we were there) and there are plenty of places to stop and take in the awesome view.

do it first with the Trolley to learn what to look for and the history and animals. The driver also gets to appreciate it. Then do it yourself and take your time and go for a hike/walk.

Roads on this park are in great shape, and the repairs being done in the west side don't take much time from you, still, if you don't want to wait you can alway go through the east side.

If you are in this area of the country, this is a must see attraction. It can be a harrowing drive so make sure to do it clockwise. Also, stop at all the stops and take time to drive out to see the pinnacles as well.

Well worth the time to take the rim drive around Crater Lake. Many, many view points from which you can stop, take pictures and take short hikes.

Traveling through Oregon with friends in October was sheer fun! We had cloudy skies, rainy days, sunny days and SNOW! How fun to drive to Crater Lake Rim and Visitors Center for a warm, cozy and yummy lunch. Then strolled outside to see the clouds part and see Wizard Island! What beauty! Sheer joy!

When you arrive at the park, you must take the rim drive. We came in the northern entrance. At the road junction at Merriam Point turn left and follow Rim Dr. It is about a 30-mile drive around the rim of the lake affording stunning views of different landmarks and of the lake itself. There are many places to park... More
