This was a waste of time for me. The few remnants of the mine were laid out like a pile of junk. The bugs in the bushes nearly bit me to bits. It can be an interesting trip to view an old mining site, but...More

This area of Death Valley has roads that are not maintained. Personally, I would not attempt this drive without a high car or a 4X4. The road starts out okay, but becomes rough, all dirt and narrow. Drive slowly and carefully, there is little room...More

Rode around the Skidoo area on dual sport motorcycles -- something to see around every corner and up every side road. Hadn't done my research here on TA in advance, so I didn't even know about the mill -- ! D'oh. Feel like we still...More

I love the Skidoo ghost town. I love it for the scenery and the alone-ness. I'm always intrigued by the metal netting covering one of the mine pits. Nice to just lumber around and investigate the area.

My husband and I visited Death Valley over the 2011 Thanksgiving weekend. We drove out to see the Skidoo townsite in our 2008 Subaru Forester not realizing that there is nothing there to see except the informational placard. As we sat there eating lunch and...More
