It requires a box lunch because of the long trip. It was a wonderful trip. We learned a lot and saw 12 bears, 1 moose, Dal sheep.

A hike a Wonder Lake is a lovely tranquil experience. The views of Denali are beautiful from here and the lake provides a reflection of the mountain that takes your breath away.
The shuttle bus comes here and stops for about 30 mins. Unless you are here to get off, go hike and then come back for another shuttle bus later in the day, there's not much to see here. Besides we were there in the rain...More

It takes almost 6 hours to get out to Wonder Lake, but it was worth it. If you're looking to hike in the area (or walk around), ask the bus driver to let you off before they turn onto the campground road. About a mile...More
I have taken both teen granddaughters separately when each was 15. Although this is an 11 hour round trip journey to Wonder Lake, viewing the animals and vast landscape plus a glimpse of Denali Mountain kept them entertained. Bring binoculars, but many animals stroll right...More
The lake is beautiful to see. If you take the 13 hour trip to see it be prepared for a long day. The trip back was tiring and dusty. It was worth it for a once in a life time experience.
Nice place for fishing or sightseeing if you go to the end of the park road. If it is clear Denali is reflected in the water of the lake.
Be sure to get to nearby Reflection Pond for classic and beautiful shot of the mountain reflecting in this pond.
Stopped here on the Kantishna trails bus tour, Mountain was visible and reflected in the clear waters. A sight not to be missed
