The hike to Baring Falls was about 0.7 each way. The trail was very easy and very flat. Along the way we saw wildflowers and great views of St. Mary Lake. There was a small footbridge to cross the gorgeous Baring Creek to get to...More

We arrived from the water cruise of St Mary Lake. The hike up to the waterfall from the lake was very easy with beautiful foliage and flowers. We really enjoyed the small waterfall and beautiful colored rocks seen below the clear water. The day we...More

The hike is all downhill to the falls, and uphill on the way back. Wasn't too difficult. We continued down to the lake because other hikers told us they saw a bear by the lake. I saw a deer up the trail and he was...More

Ok, we are waterfall fanatics but this is a really nice falls. As with all hikes here you need to consider there is lots of elevation gain and the altitude makes it seem harder.

It's not as impressive as Virginia Falls, but the hike to Baring Falls is much quicker. It's a pretty flat trail after an initial descent. The falls are not huge but are a decent size and a good photo-op.

This is a great little hike just off of Going-to-the-Sun Road. It is accessible late into the fall and early in the spring as well. There is a little bit of elevation change say maybe a hundred feet but if you're in any type of...More

The perking for St. Mary/Virginia Falls was full so having had enough of the crowds at GNP we wandered down Baring Falls trail. It was a fairly short, easy downhill hike to the falls which are more intimate and not as crowded. Lovely.

It's 0.7 miles round trip. Fairly easy trail from my perspective. Hike734's map says 100 ft elevation gain/loss. Be sure to take bear spray. Do a search for hike734, Day Hikes for GNP map. It's well worth the cost and... More
