Iceberg Lake is a popular hiking destination, and the trail that gets you there adds to the experience. The first part from the trailhead is through the trees, and has some quick moderate elevation gain - also some larger steps. Then you break out of...More

This hike is about 11 miles roundtrip. The bear grass was in full bloom and gorgeous to hike through. We were able to get great pictures of wildflowers, waterfalls, and mountain views. Did have to hike over about a football field's length of snow to...More

Hiking to Iceberg Lake was phenomenal. The trail is clearly marked, and easy to follow. Proper hiking attire, including a Life straw water bottle with filter is a must. Most of the journey to the lake was uphill. We each had a water bottle, but...More

Hiked this trail with our Backroads Hiking group; it was stunning! It's a beautiful 10 mile round trip hike; the first part is switchbacks, and then the majority of the trail is a gradual incline (1,300 ft elevation climb). When you get to the lake,...More

OMG, this is glacier! The trail head splits for this trail. We did the tunnel trail first which was def a strenuous hike. We met people who had hiked iceberg lake first and convinced us the trail was easy and flat. Well these nice people...More

This was one of our favorite hikes while in Glacier National Park. While this has some elevation to it, it is pretty gradual and not too difficult. The length is probably more tiring. Sometimes you are in shade and sometimes in direct sun. The views...More

It was great to see icebergs in late August!! Iceberg trail is one of the most powerful and beautiful hikes I've ever had, it's a 10 miles trail round trip took 5-6 hours. Good opportunity to see moose near the lake.

Went with the Park Ranger on this hike, he was a wealth of information and the hike was at an easy pace. Iceberg Lake was spectacular but the whole hike was very scenic

The Iceberg Lake hike is a relatively long one, about 12 miles long for the way there and back combined. It is partially shaded for the first few miles, and then out in the direct sunlight for the remainder. The first few miles have more...More

We arrived at Swiftcurrent Motel by 9 a.m., which we would highly recommend as it filled up quickly and found the trailhead behind the motel. After a 2.5 mile hike you arrive at Ptarmigan Falls - very pretty, but continue another 2.5 miles to the...More

I agree. Too rocky. I might be difficult to hold the attention span that long. So many wonderful things to see that require less distance.

3 hours seems about correct.........take your time, take in the scenery. When I was there once with my kids years ago, like 25, I had some pictures developed and upon examination with a magnifying glass saw a grizzle bear... More

I'm unsure as to how literally to take the question... the short answer would be yes, since the round-trip distance from the trailhead to the edge of Iceberg Lake and back is 9.7 miles.
