We spent two nights at the Indian Garden campground. It was great to have a picnic table with a roof over it, running water, and toilets! This may not seem like much, but it's unexpected when backpacking AND it's much appreciated when the the weather's bad (as it was when we were there)!

Stopped for lunch and to get a break, Just delighted I could get out of the saddle with out falling! My mule ride was so much fun and the wranglers were the best! If you have not been-give it a try! The forest ranger and his family are an added delight!

Indian Garden is an oasis of tree shaded benches and rocks with running water and restrooms. It is also the spot where the Mule Trip stops on its way down to the Phantom Ranch for a rest and lunch. Used by many hikers as both a turn around point as well as a rest stop. One can hear the low... More

Our spot was near the bathrooms and the Bright Angel trail. The site easily fit our three tents. There are ammo cans to store food and a pole for our packs. We took a three mile round trip to Plateau Point for sunset. Two spotted skunks had a hissing fight between us and our neighbors. Woke up in the middle... More

All camp sites have shelters over picnic tables. Plenty of drinking fountains, water, nice toilets, ranger station, library, bench's for ranger talks. Close to plateau point, nice hike out to it for the sunset. SHADE

Stayed at Indian Garden Campground. Each site is nicely situated and though they are in close proximity, the setting is well arranged and the tables, covers and tins for food to avoid squirrels and hanging spots for packs are all nice amenities. We all agreed a cold shower would've been an asset, but with some engineering you could get wet... More

If you are not going all the way to the river, Indian Garden is a good place to stop and picnic before returning to the rim. Take your time, carry water, and start all your hikes early in the morning during the summer.

Hiked through here while going Rim-Rim-Rim and another time while hiking the Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point. It's a beautiful little oasis in the Grand Canyon. I always appreciate the American Flag that flies above the Ranger's quarters there.

For those going down to Plateau Point, this is where you regroup for the ultimate stair master ever; the hike back up. I took a nap, cleaned my feet, change into fresh socks and head back up. It is beyond just "an oasis" when you think how many people in hundreds of years have rested here.

Indian Garden is a truly beautiful oasis half way down Bright Angel Trail. The campground here is one of the nicer ones in Grand Canyon. It is the only one with covered picnic shelters for each camp site which is great to protect you from either the intense heat of the sun or from the rain. It is also a... More
