Driving the east rim was the best part of my trip to the Grand Canyon. There are so many turnouts with great views and many are no where as crowded as the main lodge/visitors center. If you have the time I highly suggest it. Tip watch out for wildlife, they were quite a few animals that crossed in front of... More

My family just loved this drive and the spectacular overlooks and views it offered. There are constant places to stop and each one is a little different. It is well worth the drive and so beats the crowded South Rim. We drove up from Sedona and entered in the East Entrance. We took out time driving to the South Rim... More

Lot's of places to stop and take in the breathtaking views. Give yourself at least 90 minutes to see everything. Take the 64 loop back to Flagstaff. More stuff to see!

The view was awesome. The canyon looks like a photo back drop. The colors are spectacular. This natural wonder of the world is a must to see and enjoy. The park service does a great job for us to enjoy!

Much less crowded part of our trip. Go to watch tower and walk on trails and it's like no one else is there. We entered park from this side and made way back to village. Was a great decision. All the stops are worth seeing on the east side. Views are spectacular

Late Feb/ March 2017: So I decided to embark on the scenic route to the GC. Flew into Phoenix and drove the 2hrs to Sedona, where I stayed for a night, with the intention of an early start to the Grand Canyon. After looking at my schedule, I decided that the best use of my time would be to drive... More

The east rim of the canyon is nice trip as you make your way from the South Rim (Grand Canyon Village) to the town of Page (which is the gateway to the Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend). The east rim drive offers a lot of stops along the way where you get different views of the canyon (e.g. Grandview Point,... More

If you visit the Grand Canyon South Rim by car, you should absolutely drive the East Rim Drive. There are a number of viewing areas along the route, that give you different views of the canyon, and more experiences and appreciation of this natural wonder. We were here on a beautiful and not too terribly scorching hot day in late... More

This is totally worth the drive. We went in winter when it was snow covered and just unbelievably beautiful. It gets busy in summer.

Came from Monument Valley so entered GCNP from the east. Stopped at every view point along this route. Good road but needed sunglasses due to the setting sun. Only about a 20 mile drive but took a couple of hours with stops.
