This narrow trail leading to a 7,400 promontory is very popular for the first half mile or so, then it becomes a lot more rugged.

Hiked down to Cottonwood Creek via the Grandview Trail, which is a staggering knee-jarring 3500 ft descent! I trained for this hike, and it certainly paid off. Hard on the knees going down, and the rocky trail makes it easy to slip and fall. Going back to the rim is tough, especially the last hour of switchbacks. Do not do... More

I am in excellent shape and do not consider myself to be afraid of heights. However, this trail is soooo steep and the drop offs so severe with nothing blocking your view of the vast expanse that I discovered I have a fear of falling. I froze mid way down and had to be talked off the ledge by a... More

My hubby and I were able to get a back county permit to camp for one night in Horseshoe Mesa while adventuring in the Grand Canyon. The Grandview Trail leads down to the Horseshoe Mesa. The total trek down was 3 miles. The total trek back up the next day was 3.7 miles, after we stopped to get water at... More

The Grandview Trail is one of the steepest ones to hike into the Grand Canyon so one should only do it if prepared for that type of hike. It is the shortest. The trail departs from Grandview Point area. While there is parking there, I would also suggest parking and taking the park shuttle to the start of the trail.... More

This is a great hike but not an easy one. This hike has everything accept a crowd. You have steepness, switchbacks, great views and absolute silence. Due to the difficulty of this trail we saw very few hikers during the six hours to complete this hike. I did this hike with a group of friends two experienced hikers and two... More

My parents and I hiked this trail to get down to the back country sites past Horseshoe Mesa (March 2014-It woudn't let me selected later than August 2015). We spent 4 days and 3 nights in the back country. Reviews we had read from other backpackers was not quite what we ran into. We were expecting a hard hike on... More

I wanted to take this trail first in case I wouldn't be able to spend more time on other more popular and better maintained trails. It's easy to get to the trailhead in your own car. Though views may be less than "grand" as many imagine and see, it's a unique experience to be intimate with the canyon formations while... More

Firstly our guide Shayne was exceptionally knowledgeable about history of the canyon, geography, plants and animals. After all - he has 17 years as a grand canyon guide. 350 Million years in the making - the view from the top of the south rim brought tears to my eyes. You can't imagine unless you see it for yourself. Hiking into... More

If you don't have a whole week at the grand canyon, you should definitely try this trail. It is pretty hard, don't underestimate it. it's easy going down but coming up is painful. The view is amazing and trail is fun. It is not a trail the park is taking care of, most of the paths are made by miners... More

My friends and I (somewhat fit women in their thirties) were a bit nervous about the description of this hike and almost didn't do it. We're so glad we did! We hiked for about 4 hours and only felt strained on the way up for about 20 minutes. If you work out a little bit, and have done a few... More
