Lookout Studio was built by the Santa Fe Railroad in 1914 in a strategic location for visitors to look out through telescopes at the trails and wildlife and for them to buy souvenirs—mainly photos of the canyon. In addition to being a fine piece of blend-in architecture on the rim, the Studio maintains the original two functions today. Viewing from... More

Lookout Studio (瞭望台工作室) is located in the Historic Village District of the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim. It is another amazing historical building in Grand Canyon designed by Mary Colter. It was completed in 1914 and kept with her style of architecture. Lookout Studio was specially constructed with native stones and an asymmetrical roof to blend into the rim... More

We stayed at Bright Angel almost directly across a path, just a few steps from the Lookout. And we got snowed in! I don't think there were 100 visitors in the Park. Wow, a life time experience. The Studio is now a gift shop and there's a terrace in the bak, hanging right over the canyon wall. By all means... More

Visionary planner and decorator, Mary Coulter designed this fine gift shop on the lip of the South Rim. Rustic rock work makes y ou think it is hundreds of years old. Best pictures are in the morning looking west.

While you get to view the Grand Canyon from anywhere on the South Rim trail, The Lookout Studio gives you the front row seats. Located on the western side of the Rim Trail this studio offers the edge of the cliff view of the Bright Angel Trail and the Canyons grand majesty without the man made perimeter wall around the... We went the day after the blizzard happened and this place is so surreal. The premise itself is very rustic with the huge boulders and the stones that make this building. There is a gift shop inside and you will see a lot of these gift shops every where at the Grand Canyon. It would be great if they had... More

This has great views and two terraces where you can take in the fantastic vista. But it is again selling very similar gifts to the Kolb Studio and seems a waste for an historical building.

This place is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately it is a shop selling trinkets and tourist items. They should put a restaurant or cafe here so people can sit and take in the amazing view. The architecture is very impressive. It seems to grow out of the side of the canyon. Really impressive.

There are two tiers of the stone patios that seem to cantilever over the canyon. The beautiful architecture of the building is also to be appreciated! Don't miss the plaque posted at the entrance.
