Camped here during labor day. We arrived at noon with no reservation since you can't make one and we were a bit nervous of not being able to find a spot since it is a holiday. We went into the visitor center and they weren't sure if there is any spot left and also warned us about the cold weather... More

Took the leisurely 12 mile drive up Wheeler Peak stopping at several viewing points along the way. It was a beautiful sunny day & the vistas were amazing. Had a picnic lunch at the top. Amazed at the condition & number of pit toilets along the way. Maybe the cooler weather eliminates any smell and they had seat cover dispensers... More

This is it.....cannot drive further. Good spot for a picnic and restrooms. This is the departure point for the hike up the mountain to see the bristlecone trees. It is about a 30 minute drive from the Lehman Cave Visitor Center....more from the National Park visitor center.

Camping at 9,800 feet, without crowds! If that sounds appealing to you, this is the place to visit. We took at 10 day road trip through Nevada and California. This was our favorite camp site of the entire trip>

The only thing I regret about Wheeler Peak is that on the day we visited, the sky was very cloudy, so we cancelled our plans to stay overnight and view the summer skies without the intrusion of city lights. We were told the views are unequaled when skies are clear. However, we were able to enjoy thoroughly the views of... More

There is a beautiful campground at Wheeler Peak with great views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Spacious sites, water available. Restrooms are latrine style. We arrived around 1:00 in the last week of July and got one of the last available campsites. Despite it being 101 in the valley, at the peak it was in the high 70s. Night... More

The road is narrow and winding. It over amazing view from vistas. It also a road to access to a few hiking attractions including Bristcone Pine Trail. It would be worth to drive here. The weather is a lot cooler because of the high elevation. There is a campground in the end of the drive. Strongly suggest to camp here,... More

Great Basin NP offers nature walks and treks to lakes for the casual hiker. The peak and glacier trails offer a hardy and hearty physical challenge. Starting at 10,000 feet with an elevation gain of over 1,000 ft. the 8 miles is a spectacular experience. Glistening lakes, ancient Bristlecone Pines, and even turkeys crossed our path. Watch and listen for... More

This campground is beautiful. We came on a Sunday afternoon without reservations and got one of the last sites available. The views are stunning. It's at 10,000 feet, so a little cool at night. Lots of wind at night. Bring your own firewood. Sites have table, BBQ, fire pit. Good hiking nearby. This is an amazing park and absolutely worth... More

The first time I visited it raining pretty hard so we weren't able to take full advantage of the trails. This last time around though, it was beautiful weather so we hiked the Alpine Lakes Trail. We took the right fork up, which I'm really glad for!! Coming back down on the other side was not something I would have... More
