We took the scenic drive to the 10,000 ft. Gorgeous views! There is a campground at this level and trails to the peak. You have to allow at least an hour to complete the drive.

A gorgeous drive up to 10000+ feet offered amazing views of the peak, the park and the basin below. The trail traversed forests, streams, rocks, snow (in July) and was a really nice hike. An excellent experience in this beautiful park.

Camping at 9,800 feet, without crowds! If that sounds appealing to you, this is the place to visit. We took at 10 day road trip through Nevada and California. This was our favorite camp site of the entire trip>

The only thing I regret about Wheeler Peak is that on the day we visited, the sky was very cloudy, so we cancelled our plans to stay overnight and view the summer skies without the intrusion of city lights. We were told the views are...More
