Basically two miles straight up. Can be challenging depending on your fitness level. If you pace yourself you should be fine. Great views at the top!

Me and my two brothers have been coming to Gatlinburg every year for the last 15+ years. This year we selected Chimney Tops Trail for our hike. Absolutely awesome trail and the view was worth every drop of sweat! Highly recommend this trail!

I always think I am in decent shape, I run about 4 times per week, and go 4-5 miles each time. Then I take one of these hikes and think I am so out of shape! I really need to run hills before hand to...More

If you’re simply looking to kill some time and energy, then go for it. It’s not a bad trail, but I’m glad we did this one first on our trip rather than later, after experiencing other much better ones. It would have been anti-climactic, for...More

Enjoyed the hike with our 7 & 11yo. Big boldest our oldest climbed on. Hike cut short by impending storm.

There are a lot of stairs and steep incline on this trail, but it is worth it! We had to stop quite a number of times to rest, but we are also not regular hikers. There were people young and old on the trail, so...More

The trail is blocked off at the very top due to last years fire damage. Still has a nice place to have a view. Many steps of stone and wood. Large boulders in the creek at the start. Could splash a bit in the hot...More

Our family chose the Chimney Tops Home as our first hike in the Smokies at the suggestion of a volunteer working in the Sugarlands Visitor Center. We are thrilled we did this hike - it’s gorgeous. You follow the rushing water over several Footbridges at...More

Sad to see the top blocked off due to damage from the fire. I have been to the top prior but the new lookout was extremely satisfying after the treck up the trail. My 9yo and I felt it was a tough but short hike....More
