Clingman's Dome is about 7 miles off the main road. And once you get there there's a half a mile hike up to the spiral winding observation point, where you'll get breathtaking views of the park. It is well worth the hike, but be advised...More

The road to Clingmans Dome should open by the 1st of April. I would check at the Sugarland Visitor Center to make sure the road and the observation tower at Clingmans Dome are open.
