Lots of water features along the way...including one nice fall at the end of the road...just cross the bridge and take the well marked trail to the left (Lynn Camp Prong) and walk roughly a hundred yards. At the lower elevation (before the Tremont institute) there are also several nice swimming holes.

Why we had never taken this drive until now is a mystery to me. However, we have now found our favorite place in the park. Breathe taking beauty!!! Already planning our next visit.

We stopped at the Visitors Center in Townsend and the park ranger recommended this for our smallest family member. Plenty of pull offs by the creek to play in, and the hiking trail at the end of the road was great for kids. There isn't any particular area you end up at, just hike as little or as much as... More

We packed a picnic lunch and took the drive up along the stream. Most of the trip up is gravel road so it gets dusty at times. We went on a Saturday and the parking area at the end was about 1/2 full. Most people were hiking on the trails. A nice small stream and a couple of big rocks... More

This was like a well kept secret. There weren't very many people on the road or the Middle Prong Trail which is odd since its so close to Cade's Cove - its a nice "combo package". At the "Y", once you head toward Cade's Cove, the turn for Tremont will be on your left. Its about 2 miles to the... More

We found a beautiful swimming hole at a little water fall to hang out for a while. Then we went on to the roads end and took the trail along the creek. Amazing waterfalls and views. We highly recommend.

Love, love, love this area! It has our favorite waterfall hike at Spruce Flatts. This is a more difficult hike, but totally worth it. Then keep driving down the road next to the river to Middle Prong Trail, and walk to beautiful cascades. This is a really easy, wide trail that anyone can hike and see gorgeous views of the... More

Upper Tremont is a peaceful spot, somehow overlooked by so many GSMNP visitors. Just off of Little River Road this area is quiet as it travels beside the water. Never any traffic. The numerous watercourses and small pools are always inviting during hot summer days. The Middle Prong Trail is also a relaxing tranquil hike through deep woods.
