The watering holes/pools were closed when we were there due to recent rains and rock slides but the area was very beautiful and amazing. Something about watching the water drain into the ocean and the ocean meet the water is magical. I would recommend visiting this if you do the road to Hana drive. It's right up there with the... Oheo Gulch is a beautiful place no doubt, but recently Maui officials have halted swimming in the pools due to concerns over rocks breaking away and falling into the pools. When we came, it apparently had been raining heavily earlier in the day (which you can't tell when you are on the West Side of Maui, outside of checking out... More

Let me preface this by saying I understand closing, but be honest about why. Is it beautiful YES!! Worth a trip, YES!! But, it was closed due to water level, yet there is a sign that shows dangerous and normal water levels. If your going to say it's closed due to water level it shouldn't be flowing less than the... very lovely location...past Hana Town...very popular with visitor...do be advised to be careful, not care free, when visiting this 'attraction'...though safe for the majority of the time, there are times when it's raining heavily 'up in them there mountains' and the stream is prone to flash flooding...as the saying goes...if in doubt don't cross....just twist that abit to if the... We hiked to the upper falls (about 45 minutes) and when you get to them you'll be beautifully surprised, but don't forget to enjoy the hike there; it's equally beautiful. You walk thru a bamboo forest and you get to see a masive tree also, the Banyan tree on the hike. Enjoy the hike, it's beautiful. I'd do it again!... More

Unable to visit the pools or swim there because of dam problems. Hopefully it will reopen after the current storms....but check before making the long drive.

The pools are really cool even when they are closed (2/2017). The park service that manages this location leaves a lot to be desired, the gift shop is almost non existence, the view points are overgrown, and the pay station was closed diverting us to a grass lot to pay? Very disappointed in the national park service for their lack... More

It's a great place to stop and stretch your legs, and check out the beautiful waterfalls. And some days you can even swim.

I was very excited about the visit to the Seven Sacred Pools. It is exhausting to get there after the whole Hana drive. The hike up was great, but there wasn't much to see for the actual waterfall section. It was all closed off.

Unfortunately the 7 sacred pools are now closed to the public, not sure why. They are across the street from the Pipiwai trail. You can still walk to them and see them, but they're not as full as they were in years past when they allowed people to swim in them. Still nice to see, just not as impressive as... More
