The Art Centre has two locations. One next to the Volcano NP visitor centre and the other is in Volcano village. We joined the nature walk in the village and went round the small native rainforest there. Very interesting. There is also a small sculpture garden. Not large but has some nice pieces. They have workshops etc there too but... More

We were lucky enough to stroll by as a local crafter was demonstrating how to create fern wristlet lei's - used for special occasions such as weddings or hula dances. The art and fun of creation was enough to keep us there for some 40 minutes, just time enough to cycle through the Art Center and see some exceptional work... More

Ok this is a place to go if yo are not worried about how much you can afford. The items are beautiful and well crafted however unless you have loads of $$ there is little that is affordable. Great place to get to see some local art.

I had a quick view of the different pieces of artwork however to be honest this was hard to appreciate with the larges amounts of people walking around and two children hauling me from place to place. I enjoyed the artwork that was currently displayed and thought that the recent pictures of the flowing lava was cool.

This gallery features local artists inspired by the dramatic setting. There are a half dozen rooms featuring different media from glass to paintings to wood carvings. There is a wide range of prices, so there is a lot to choose from if you want to bring home something from Hawaii that isn't the stereotypical souvenir.

Arriving at the National Park Service Information Center and of course spending some time in the gift shop, I was hesitant to dedicate more shopping time to the off-in-the-distance Volcano Art Center. Knowing the weather conditions for viewing the volcano were perfect at that moment, I opted to catch it on the way back out. Before returning I took the... More

This is a must see. The center supports local artists, so you get something unique to the area that most other shops on the island doesn't carry. I always find something special there. Plus you are supporting the park, in these times it is important since Republican politicians are trying to do away with the National Park system.

My wife and I have visited the Volcano Art Center several times during visits to Kiluaua Volcano. It's housed in a rustic house just inside the park boundaries and near the Volcano House. Though it looks small on the outside, it houses several rooms of artistic items, including jewelry, ceramics, glass, koa wood objects and, of course, lots of art... More
