Lots to do here, takes a full day or more. I wanted to see the lava flowing but my 8 year old and 11 year old couldn't do the 6 mile hike. I didn't want to spend the money to do the helicopter tour either. Take the time and research prior to going. There are things you probably won't see... More

The volcano is downright incredible if you can manage to view it through the hoards of selfie-taking, picture-snapping tourists! Start at the visitor center so that you can understand a bit of the history of the volcano. We did enjoy the Kīlauea Iki Trail, as it took us away from the tour buses and allowed us to really take in... More

We had been to Kilauea Crater before and had driven around some. The Lava Tubes are quite amazing. This time we hung out at Jagger Museum so we could view the crater and Halem'auma'u. It was reported that Pele was tossing up some lava. This became more apparent as sunset came. Quite amazing to see. Glad we stayed until dark.... More

The opportunity to stand in a volcano doesn't come along often and is a first for me. We went at night and saw the glow of the lava and visited the museum. I learnt a lot about how the islands actually 'work'. We went in the day and didn't realise the landscape that we were in the night before. We... More

Volcano National Park is a must see on the Big Island, hands down. The views are incredible and the landscape is other worldly. There is plenty to do for all types of visitors and groups, but for those that are moderate hikers, I recommend the Kilauea Iki trail, which takes you into a dried up caldera. It was incredible. Note... More

So we brought our buddies from Canada that had never been to Hawaii They were blown away Took hundreds of pictures. During the afternoon you could see the volcano spitting lava and smoking, then at night the glow of the lava - all from the Jagger Museum We walked all over the park and saw gasses spewing from the ground... Lava is flowing! Beautiful park not matter what. But now is the time to go, May 2017. You can see the lava bubbling up and the rivers flowing. Good to see at night. They have free viewing binoculars for closer views. We also went during the day to walk through old lava tubes.

Is a must if you want to say: " I was in Hawai'i!" I can't imagine that someone travel so long and shouldn't visit THE Park! Is for more than one day, but you can comress and see the most important points. If you're a mountain lover, you will enjoy trails, rocks and plant. And if you;re lucky enough, you... More
