We were lucky to find flowing lava and it was an insane thing to see. So worth it. Ask for good directions day-of from the locals at the start of site (where all the bikes are rented) on where to go. You can rent a...More

see the results from the slow-motion calamity of lava. Facinating to see roads, fences and street signs swallowed up in rock

This was an amazing experience!!!! We made it out to hot lava and then, as we watched, the lava broke through and began flowing just a few feet from us! Okay... we heard it was a two mile walk out to the lava. I don’t...More

It was too much physical for me but were able to drive some of the area to see where people have built homes on the lava. We went back the next and the locals blocked us from driving back there. There are many tents with...More

Eastern side of flow. Can rent bikes at entrance, but will still have to hike. Fresh lava is kind of scary, because it crunches underneath your feet. Is it an eggshell or thick enough to support you?

Its a great place to experience Hawaii in its natural splendor. Lots to learn and the guides are helpful to make your experience awesome. They also are knowledgeable on when you can see lava flowing into the sea and how hike there.

This was the most exciting excursion during our trip to Hawaii. Note that it’s not for the faint of heart. It the bike ride was enjoyable and relatively flat. The hike wasn’t strenuous, but it was a decent length (45 min?) and uneven so it...More
