The hike was absolutely beautiful and provided lots of great scenery and bouldering. 3 miles but took us quite a while because we stopped a lot for pictures and the kids climbed on lots of rocks. This hike needs proper foot gear, water, and snacks

This trail snakes through JTNP's typical, stubbly landscape deep into 49 Palm Canyon. There are plenty of elevation changes and no shade, so it can feel a lot longer than 3.5 miles; the lush fan palm oasis at the end, however, is very green and...More

We did this hike this past week. Loved it. It took us four hours but well worth it. Seeing the palm oasis at the end was incredible. We got on the trail at 8:30. I would recommend 7:00 am. It was getting pretty warm when...More

It took my wife and I 1 hr and 20 minutes to get to the oasis. It was a great hike with great scenery. The oasis was a great place to sit and relax while taking in the views with a cold water and snack....More

This is a relatively easy hike with a definite payoff at the end. It's three miles out and back with a moderate level of up and down, 350 feet gain out and 300 back according to the park service. We did the hike in early...More

This was our first hike in the JTNP area and it was an amazing introduction into the landscape. We thoroughly enjoyed the views on the way in and the oasis provided great shaded relief. Wonderful way to stretch legs after a day in the car!

Interesting barren rocky landscape leading to - what else - 49 palm trees or so around a small waterhole and creek. It's fine but maybe there is a more interesting a lush oasis in the park.

If you are only going to hike 3 trails in J Tree, make this one of the three. It is an out an back trail, easy to follow and moderate in difficulty. It is not strenuous. Virtually all the trails in the park are short,...More

One of the better hikes. Gives good overview of the park and not croweded. There is (as for the rest of the park) very little shade so be prepared with water etc.

It's a mile and a half each way. It does involve some significant up-and-down in both directions, but the oasis is quite a gem, and I found the approach itself to be even more picturesque than the oasis. It's probably best... More

It's a lovely hike from beginning to end. You don't have to go far to get something out of it. The views of the valley and the washes are good from the outset.
