We are from Australia. We hired an RV and picked it up in Seattle and the first thing we did was a drive around the scenic loop of the North Cascades highway. The scenery was stunning from beautiful lakes to snow covered mountains. Amazing drive that everyone should do!

This drive takes around five or six hours if you go all the way to Wenatchee. It is very beautiful in October.

A three months motor-home camping trip through western USA takes us through the North Cascades National Park along Route 20. The salmon are running in the Skagit River. We decided to camp in a lush old growth forest campground where the Goodell Creek joins the fast flowing waters of the Skagit River from south west British Columbia on its way... More

Love taking this route from the Okonogan to Seattle and beyond. The scenery from Winthrop to Concrete is amazing with the towering mountains, beautiful lakes and river. Many hiking trails in the area and Newhalem is a nice place to camp with a large state campground and beautiful information centre and gift shop.

Beautiful scenic drive through the North Cascades is worth the time. Favorites were Diablo Lake Overlook and Washington Pass Overlook which had nice picnic area. The Skagit River was gorgeous and we loved staying at the Goodell Creek campground.

This is a small highway that closes in winter, so driving across the Cascades to see beautiful fall colors may be your last time of year to navigate it. Gorgeous waterfalls against rock faces, across bridges over flowing rivers (even in fall), this is a memorable way to go. Reaching the east side, one finds oneself in Mazama with its... More

Hubby and I love the North Cascades Highway due to its very scenic route. Plenty of pull-outs to stop and stretch your legs from driving. We always started early in the morning so we could cover all the stops we needed to make. Summer would be most preferable for gorgeous photographs (especially the emerald Diablo Lake) but late September showcase... More

This drive is a great way to see North Cascades National Park. It goes right through the middle of the park, and you can see mountains, lakes and waterfalls. Be sure to make a few stops along the way. There is a point early in the drive that you have a great view of snow covered mountains. Be sure to... More

Highly recommended to take one day driving this highway. Diablo lake lookout and Washington Pass are amazing. Don't miss them.

Took us way longer than the average drive because we stopped, took tons of pictures, and hiked. The scenery was breathtaking! Stretch your legs at Trail of the Cedars, the overlooks, and Rainy Lake. We only wish we had more time! The road is designed well (fairly wide and in great shape) so it would be easy to pull a... More
