The Lake was created by damming the river for hydroelectricity. The power house along 101 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The lake is surrounded by Olympia National Forest, Olympic National Park and some private property. The recreation is great...from kayaking to some swimming. The lake is really cold but you can swim in the summer.

From Lake Cushman, we accessed the staircase for a beautiful trek through out of this world nature! The paths are well maintained but not overly easy either. And its not too busy. Actually on a November afternoon, we were alone. Make sure you ve planned your trip or are going with a local. Its a huge park and you won't... More

Made a quick stop here on our way further on the peninsula. Beautiful lake down in a valley surrounded by the mountains. Fall colors were amazing.

My husband, Mark and I, were enticed to place a bid on this vacation for a live auction function for a local children's museum and have no regrets! This package included a weeks stay in a lovely home on the lake, access to a private beach/dock/picnic area, and all of the things a person needs when staying in someone's summer... More

We live 2 hours from here but have never made it out until this past Monday. Holy crap have we been missing out. It is absolutely gorgeous and so quiet. Lake Crescent has been our spot until this point, but there you have the road running along the lake so you get car noise, out here it is absolutely quiet.

At the time we visited, it was too cold for swimming and the lake was very low. We enjoyed walking in the lake bed and rock hunting. The restroom in one of the parking lot areas was TOTALLY disgusting. It could use some maintenance. I know that the natural potties tend to have an odor, but this was way too... More

Park has great areas and turn offs to view the lake and take pictures. Well maintained trails are all over the park which make it easy to enjoy the area. Next time will pack a small picnic!

Well my family wanted to try a new location for camping not too far from home. The 1989 Winnie can only go so far since our trip to California. Anyhow I had seen this campground mentioned in a few different locations and thought it would be a good one. We stayed in the North Campground. It was really nice to... More

Stayed in a cabin rental, Moose House, very near Lake Cushman. Very cute, clean, comfortable. Had a wonderful hike in Olympic National Park that day at Staircase. Couldn't believe the size of some of the trees-over 400 years old. Lots of beautiful wild flowers. Bring rain gear and leave a change of clothes in the car just in case you... More
