With wide relatively flat paths to the lake once the snow has gone this is a perfect place to take someone who has a disability. It's close to the car park and popular but it's also a busy place so parking places are at a...More

This trailhead is not to be missed! Will need to get there rather early in the summer time, but going now we arrived at 11:00 and had no problem finding a parking spot. The trail has a lot of snow, so best to wear trax...More

The gateway to some of the best views in the park, such as Emerald Lake and Alberta Falls, you can't ask for a better kickoff to your hike. The only problem is the parking situation. Get there early, plan to take the shuttle, or you're...More

As a major shuttle stop, the large, paved parking lot services the trailhead. Plenty of pit toilets here. Since this trailhead leads to several options for whatever experience and skill level of hiking you’re looking for, you may encounter lots of people at the start...More

As a parking lot, there isn't much to write about. It's a relatively large parking lot for the Bear Lake trails. It has several unisex bathrooms, a bus stop, and a small ranger station. The bathrooms smelled pretty bad the day we were there (Oct....More

This is a great place to start many different hikes of different levels. Bear Lake itself is an easy hike, but there are several others from here which are more strenuous, like Emerald Lake. If it's busy it may be worth using the park and...More

Bear lake is just like a 0.1 or 0.2 mile away from the trailhead. The parking gets full pretty quick. Come early morning to get a parking spot.

I'm from Florida, so it was a bit of a rough hike due to the elevation. Breathing was difficult going up, but the views are well worth the hike. This is an absolute must see!!!

If you ride the shuttle bus from Estes Park do you still have to pay an entrance fee?

Wondering too! A whole car load is only $20...but it says walk in is $10 a person. They would rather you ride than drive, but those numbers don't make sense?! I image there is still a fee with the shuttle, but if you have 3... More
