I've never seen a view like it. I was there in May, so the sun was out and spring was in full swing, but there was still snow all over the ground, of which I'd never experienced it so deep! The mountains were gorgeous, although many trails still closed off for fear of snow drift. A MUST DO!

By far, this is one of the hot spots for viewing elk in Rocky Mtn National Park. There is parking along the road as well as a parking lot. Some other areas don't have near the parking and any elk sighting creates traffic gridlock to rival Los Angeles.

The presence of horses with their droppings, dust and erosion of the trails detract to a great degree from the appeal of this meadow and its trails. Would not recommend Horseshoe Park.

This is an amazing drive in the RMNP area and it offers amazing view. There is an abundance of wildlife native to the mountains that often frequents the area here as well. Definitely worth a stop.

Nice drive with a few pull offs and has a lot of photo ops. Did see a lot of bull elk here grazing. We also saw Wyoming underground squirrels here as one of the rangers pointed out.

You can access Horseshoe Park from your vehicle. There are some great views with "pull-offs" so that you can safely get out of your car and take those very special vacation pictures of the valley and the Mummy Range in the distance.

Horseshoe park is always the place to go for Elk viewing in the fall. We have gone in early mornings and in the evenings and were hardly ever disappointed. Also this is a great place to view the sun setting over the mountains. Take some hot chocolate in the fall sit outside your car and watch the Elk and the... More

We have been coming here for over 30 years and it is always an adventure. Most of it because of the elk viewing and some of it because of stupid people - why do people loose their brains when they get close to wildlife? Selfies should be outlawed in National Parks. It's about the wildlife, not about egoistic people. Weather... More

Horseshoe Park is an attractive place, even when there no charismatic wildlife on hand. We came by on September 18 on the way to Old Fall River Road and it was apparently a bit too early for elk to be in plentiful supply at West Horseshoe. (We did see elk later in the higher elevations). It’s never been my luck... More

This is a great place to see elk, especially in the fall. It's a wonderful place to see wildlife, and to reflect on the Rocky Mountain National Park beauty.
