We drove the trail ridge road as far as we could. However in October, part of the road was closed due to snow. This drive is amazing with breathtaking views. Plenty of places to stop and just enjoy what nature has to show you. There...More

Had the pleasure to drive around the National Park as winter is setting in. Snow capped mountains, stunning scenery, walking trails in crisp snow, watching waterfalls and streams as the water tumbles down from the mountain tops. Even caught sight of an Elk grazing on...More

Rented a convertible with a friend and it was well worth the cost. Driving this road affords you many views of the park and it’s animals. Many Rainbows is a favorite place. But definitely taking the ride in the convertible amplified the view/visit. Recommend you...More

This is one of the best things to do while staying in Denver. It is a short drive away and very inexpensive since it is a National Park. It can get a little crowded on weekends in the summer but it is worth it. Take...More

Beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains although I recommend to have an experienced and well composed driver behind the wheel as some portions of the road can be intimidating. Dress well for the unexpected windy or cold weather and be prepared to walk in the...More

Trail Ridge Road is not for those uncomfortable with steep mountain roads with steep drop offs. But for those who go there is no comparison to the views. You go from pine forests to above tree line through a steep, winding road. We went in...More

What an amazingly scenic drive! It is a must-do if open while at RMNP! We drove up to the Visitors Center and sadly had to turn and head back due to snow, but was still worth it. So beautiful!

Whether Trail Ridge Road will be open during your visit is entirely weather dependent. The average annual official closing date for Trail Ridge Road as a through road between Estes Park and Grand Lake is October 23, but... More

The sections of Trail Ridge Road that more people find intimidating are located between the Alpine Visitor Center and the Forest Canyon Overlook when traveling west to east which is Grand Lake to Estes Park. That is because... More

Assuming Trail Ridge Road is not temporarily closed due to snow (that does happen in early October), you can just drive the road in 90 minutes to 2 hours (one way driving time) depending on traffic, wildlife jams and people... More
