Explored the park for 3 days and drove along the road each day. The most amazing views and overlooks. Great elk sightings in multiple locations! Best early in the morning for wildlife sightings and less crowds. Don't miss the Many Parks Curve and Rainbow Curve....More

Quite simply, this is one of the great roads in America. We were there in mid-August, encountered some traffic, but nothing too bad. Pick a day when the weather is nice and roads are clear. Schedule the day, take your time and enjoy the scenery.

The sections of Trail Ridge Road that more people find intimidating are located between the Alpine Visitor Center and the Forest Canyon Overlook when traveling west to east which is Grand Lake to Estes Park. That is because... More

Assuming Trail Ridge Road is not temporarily closed due to snow (that does happen in early October), you can just drive the road in 90 minutes to 2 hours (one way driving time) depending on traffic, wildlife jams and people... More
