Tons of views. Be warned that the road is a slower winding road and you are changing elevation by about 5000'. We drove a car. But we also have an RV. I would not take our RV on this road as there are length restrictions...More

A beautiful highway through Sequoia National Park. The road is in good shape except for a two mile stretch that reduces you to a single lane as of the summer of 2017. There are trails to hike and ranger stations along the way. Lots of...More

The drive up into the sequoias twists and turns from the foothills up into the Giant Forest -- prepare to take it easy on the roads (some turns are 10mph or less) and enjoy the view. Try not to get whiplash from spinning your head...More

This drive is not to be missed! The General's Hwy is the perfect length for a day trip through Sequoia National Park. We spent about 5 hours on it, which includes quite a bit of stopping/exploring/hiking time. It's a slow drive, but that's the whole...More

For a short visit, this drive is the way to reach all must see items in park, great views, wildlife (including bears), hikes, facilities. Very worthwhile for day trip, or longer if Kings Canyon included!

We drove from the John Muir Lodge to where the major construction is happening now (mid July 2017). The drive is a great peaceful curvy drive with lots to see but the best part is when you are coming into the thick Sequoia Forest. Beware...More

We drove this highway after visiting Sequoia and wanted to go out the Kings Canyon entrance instead of backtracking through the park. Very pretty views. We stopped at some of the overlooks. We did not do any hikes in the area.

Driving through the park is an awesome experience. Being able to stop at every vista point, gawk and take pix just made our trip. So many hairpin turns, this is not a drive for the easily car-sick.

The switchbacks without guard rails were harrowing at times! My kids also wore "sea bands" on their wrists to prevent getting car sick. We also stopped many times to take pictures of the beautiful vistas. We enjoyed seeing other sites along the way, like Hospital...More

Luckily we visited the park on a Sunday. Probably more people, but no road delays to deal with. We drove in through the Visalia entrance with all it's curves and hairpin turns. After seeing the General Sherman tree and some things in that area, we...More

While you want to do the trip quickly, please be aware that the hairpin turns on the drive to the park are very dangerous and many people drive like maniacs on those turns, so be aware of that. It might be worth taking more... More
