We hiked from Panorama (right next to the Thornton Gap entrance) to the summit. It is a rocky ascent but the path is well-maintained with stairs of rock or wood. There are very few flat stretches. It is 1.85 miles, one-way. The view at the...More

If I could sum up our visit on one word it would be: Awestruck! We began our hike at Jewel Hollow Overlook and went straightaway to Mary's Rock. It was not easy, but ever so worth it. The weather was in the high 80's, but...More

Wife and I took this on, on one of the hotter days but did not regret it. It was a demanding hike but thoroughly enjoyable especially when you see a Mountain Lion! Will return in the fall as the view is breathtaking.

When the weather is fine you can go from the far end of the Big Meadows parking lot uo a short way to a lovely view before dinner at Big Meadows.

You can get 180 degree views or more. A favorite hike that we went on through the advice of a young female ranger at the visitors center at Big Meadow. The weather cooperated and the hike wasn't too bad, but I'm learning that depends on...More

This is a really cool, quick hike. We got to the summit in less than 40 minutes and got back down even faster. A lot of reviews said 2-3 hours...I'm not sure how. We even spent some time at the top. It was a little...More

We hiked this trail in early May on a clear day and it was a pleasant hike. The views at the top were great. It was also fun crossing paths with the AT thru hikers. It wasn't crowded and had lots of tree coverage.

Not at all. There are some nice rock outcroppings that you can climb for about 3-4 meters of more altitude if you do want to have a little fun, but you’ll just come back down at the same location unless you intend to go off... More
