We visited the main canyon at Zion NP and were put off by the crowds. A few days later we visited Kolob Canyons (a few days before they closed for extensive road work - won't reopen until late 2018) and what an amazing place it...More

Decided to hike this as it was closing soon for road maintenance. It was more beautiful than expected. I loved the peaceful feeling that noncrowded hikes bring. Zions is always so crowded, so this was a wonderful option to avoid so many people. The people...More

Although this is an amazing destination or side trip it will be closed until September, they are redoing some roads and adding turnouts as I understand it. If you go the best time is in the afternoons as the sun is best later in the...More

Just 20 minutes from La Verkin, this is a great place to lose the heavy crowds of Zion. Terrific views!

Kolab Canyon is Part of Zion National Park. But, it has its own entrance and visitors center. It is not a big place unless you want to see World Biggest Arch. If you plan to go for it,the hike is about 15-miles two way, then...More

Today 4 May we tried to access Kolob Canyon from I-15. 'Closed Road' signs and barriers, much to our disappointment. A very nice lady informed us that due to many problems last winter, the roads will be closed for repairs until October.

15 mile hike- not for the faint of heart. Bring lots of water it’s 6-8 hrs. Canyon is stunning- lots of elevation changes on the trail. Amazing views and the mini scramble to the arch is worth it- not like arches national park but still...More

We started our Zion adventure with a "quick" hike at Kolab. As others have said, it's a less used but just as gorgeous part of the park. We went on a Thursday and started our 3 hour in-and-out hike at around 2:30pm. We saw others...More

Our experience at Zion would not have been the same without being able to see this incredibly gorgeous part of the park, sans crowds and shuttle busses. Only a five-mile drive from visitor center to the top, with a couple large parking lots that offer...More

Would agree with the other travelers on October (would say mid to late). We were there in mid sept and they were just starting to turn - although it was still very beautiful.

It's an 8 or so mile hike from the trailhead, which is a few miles from the park entrance. It's pretty much a full day to see Kolob Arch.

There's a visitors center at the entrance to Kolob Canyon where you're supposed to pay a fee if you don't have an annual pass.
