This is a short trip and just a small taste of Zion. But it is incredibly beautiful. very good for picture taking. After stopping here along the way to somewhere else, we are now planning an entire Zion trip. The only drawback is that you have to buy a 7 day pass to enter, which makes this less than 30... More

Although it's off the path of the main park, this part of Zion is definitely worth a visit for the spectacular sunset views.

We wanted to escape the traffic jams and press of people on the other side of Zion Park and succeeded at Kolob Canyons. A scenic road, and great trails with beauty all around.

I took a chance and visited this place last weekend. According to their web site Kolob Canyons are open in winter but may close after a heavy snow storm. We were there after a snow storm and the road was closed , also the Visitor Center , Visitor center parking lot had at least 6 inches of snow. I have... More

The entrance to Kolob Canyons is at Exit 40 off of I-15, north of St George and south of Cedar City. The visitor's center has rangers, washrooms, a bookstore, and small displays. There's a lot of parking. The paved canyon drive is 5 miles with many pullouts and parking areas along the route. Lots of hiking trails and scenic viewpoints.... More

On route to springdale from Vegas, carried on up the highway to get our first look at the Canyons. Bought annual passes from the ranger station and took the drive up the canyons. Beautiful views, there were a couple of hikes but we were in a hurry to get to springdale before dark so unfortunately had to give them a... More

Looking for a different scenic view? Kolob is worth the trip especially in late afternoon when the setting sun shines on the mountains. There are some good hikes here as well

I am an overweight older woman that tries as hard as possible to do hikes in Zion, however I am also afraid of heights. This hike in Kolob Canyon was absolutely beautiful. Challenging in that the trail crosses the creek multiple times and requires up and down passage over rocks and trees, however relatively flat and beautiful. You are in... More

Not far from Cedar City, and en route to Zion, is the north east annex of the National Park. Well maintained road with ever changing dynamic mountain formations will keep you on edge until you get to the end of the road. Many photo ops, such a beautiful park to experience. Many safe pull outs on the way to take... More

Zion Canyon with hikes like the Narrows and Angel's Landing is by far a more unique scenic area. Kolob Canyon is a nice area, but I wouldn't even consider going there unless you have explored the main canyon area (meaning taking the shuttle bus in season to hikes like the Narrows, Angels Landing and Lower Emerald Pool). Only after you... More
