When planning this day trip from Las Vegas, we knew we had only one day to spend exploring the Zion Canyon so we wanted to hike the "grand-daddy" of all hikes in the park- that being Observation Point. We started this hike around 12:30pm and finished around 5pm, so it took us around 4.5 hours (although we heard from others... More

This was our first hike at ZIon. 8 miles round trip. Roughly 2,000 of elevation gain. Smooth or paved trail ... so you can leave your hiking boots at home and stick with your hiker-runners. Spectacular scenery and views. A medium challenge for us (we are 62, reasonable condition). GO EARLY, first light, the trail will get very busy with... More

I have to rate this tops because of what it is, although there is a negative aspect to the hike and that is the degree of paving of the trail. We understand why such a thing would be done, but time and wear has made the surface uneven and the material is unforgiving, so it's hard on older knees coming... More

In 4 miles and up 2000 feet, but worth it when you get to the top. Long uphill stretches, but trail is good, and has switchbacks. Great views when you get there.

We did Observation Point today and we did Angel's landing as well. Observation point is more like moderate hike. It is longer than Angel's landing and gives you a break. Beautiful hike! We did it in 4 hours and we are out of shape. We also saw children coming there too. I think that rating of hikes in National parks... More

If you only have time for one hike in Zion, let it be the Observation Point Trail. It is 8 miles round trip and steep in sections but doable. The varied landscapes along the way and the view at the top is breathtaking.

This is an amazing hike. At times the hike was strenuous, the switchbacks help you to take a breather. There is a beautiful area that takes you from one cliff area to another...and then you climb again. It took us just under 6 hours with a half hour stop on top. There are areas that drop off but the path... More

I "planned" this trip three weeks out and didn't really have much of a clue what I was going to do once we got to Zion (only wanted to spend one day there). Four days before my trip someone I randomly met at work told me he just got back a month ago and spent several days there. Once he... More

One of the most popular hikes in Zion. Warning - it is a bit strenuous so ask at the information center at Zion NP if they think it is suitable for you and your group. It's on trail so you can get by with comfortable walking shoes, but hiking shoes/boots are always best. The views are spectacular and well worth... More

We did the East Mesa trail. We'd stayed at Zion ponderosa resort and it was only about a 10 minute drive from the resort the the car park at the observation point trail head. The 6 mile round trip took us about 4 hours including time at the top. It took an hour and 15 to get up to the... More
