The Lin Mansion and Garden give a true insight into life for a wealthy family in Taiwan in the early to mid 1880s. Antique furniture, traditional Chinese architecture and landscaping in the garden make this a fascinating place to sit and contemplate life back then. To me the Lin Family Mansion and Gardens is well worth the trip out to... More

We visited this site on a Wednesday morning. Once you enter the estate, you are transformed into a peaceful, serene park like environment with only nature surrounding you. Unfortunately the main house was being refurbished but the gardens and pond is very peaceful.

I was very desapointed as 80% of the garden is under renovation. Really no much to see. Too bad really too bad.

This surely is a great historical landmark, but sadly, two thirds of the estate is closed for renovations and the remaining third is in decay and disrepair. It still provides for some nice photos, although in somewhat decadent mood. Given that this place is also out of the way, I think that one can safely skip it until the repairs... More

The only thing holding this back from 4+ rating is the lack of information, and the staff not being so friendly. The place itself is beautiful, absolutely fascinating and well kept. Absolutely worth a visit.

I read positive reviews of this place but sadlly, it is being renovated and much of it (maybe 65%) is closed off. Of course, renovations are essential and afterwards this place will be amazing. Check the information before going, I would skip this place until the renovations are finished.

It was interesting to see how multi-generation families lived in those days and the history of the Lin family in particular. Parts of the building were still undergoing renovation so these were sealed off. Nevertheless, it is still worth an hour of your time if you are in the neighbourhood.

We have been to Taipei several times but this is the 1st time we are visiting this place. We took train to Fuzhong station and then from the station we took a taxi to the Lin garden. We read from reviews that one can walk but it is too hot to walk & it cost only NT600. It is beautiful... More

April 2016 Main House under restoration. Website does not provide information on the status of the work so better check before you go. The work looks like it will take several months to complete. The main structure looks like it will be a great work when done. Compared to old heritage sites in the main land, Taipei has a long... More

It's a great place to visit! You can know about Chinese culture and how they make the decorations in the building. They also have guided tour, so you can know more about the history,building,culture... The most important thing is that it's free to visit! Me and my friend had a great time there! You can feel slow pace in the... More
