There are a lot of places to visit along Pingxi line. My friends and I rode the train all the way to Jingtong, which is the last stop on this line. (Fun fact; Jingtong station is one of the last wooden built station in Taiwan!)....More

Its 2 stops after shifen. If you don't want a crowded old street. This is the perfect spot. Its less crowded due to the road developments. The villagers are old and friendly.

Great views and fun to see the small village that the railway goes through. Few seats and you're most likely going to have to stand during the ride.

The train ride itself is worth doing, some of the scenery is absolutely wonderful but sadly the stops along the way have become too popular. I spent 6 hours, travelling to/from Ruifang and stopping at Jingtong/Pingxi/Shifen but I felt my time could have better used...More
