Overview
More
Due to its unique natural features, magnificent forests and extraordinary geomorphologic structures, the area of Velika and Mala Paklenica was proclaimed a national park in 1949. The main reason for proclaiming this area a national park was the protection of the largest and best preserved forest complex in the territory of Dalmatia, which was threatened by overexploitation. The Paklenica National Park stretches on the area of 95 km2 , on the littoral slope of South Velebit under the zone of highest mountain peaks Vaganski vrh (1752) and Sveto brdo (1753).

Entrance fee is 25kn with a student card or 40 without. This does increase during summer months. Personally, I would recommend this park over Krka. It was much less busy and I found the rock structures + views far more interesting. The main walk to...More

So many people told me I must do this 5 hour hike and it was so amazing. It's not amazing, just kind of average in terms of views. Now much of this depends on where you have been in terms of hiking. I grew up...More

Amazing view, great for one day trek. It is located in Starigrad, northern Dalmatia, at the southern slopes of Velebit mountain, not far from Zadar. It has two canyons: Mala (Small) and Velika (Big) Paklenica.

I am true hiker from Croatia and now Velika Paklenica. This is great canyon that has been furnished for visitors, but not in the right way: first part of path (very steep) is made of old rocks filed with concrete so it is very slippery!...More

We spent a whole day in this park, amazing nature and offers a lot of activities, we rented bikes and had amazing tour provided by small local company. Don't miss it! It is little bit distanced from the city but worth to visit for sure

Loved this place. Rocky mountains and trails with stunning scenery. Would recommend a visit if you're anywhere near although it's definitely worth travelling to!

One of the most beautiful places in Europe. Would go there again! It's just a shame that you can't swim there... Just one minor remark: I had the feeling that I always had to look down to see where I was placing my foot, due...More

Absolute gem of nature ! Very rich and beautiful nature, where you can find a true serenity in walks, hiking trough well marked pathways or if you like rock climbing - there's a lot rocks worth of challenge (some are breath taking!). Being near to...More

Amazing site, so close to the coast, loads of routes and unlimited diversity. Highly recommended for friends and families. Loads of nice camping sites close to main coastal road. Routes are well mantained, only flaw are short sport routes where limestone has already been polished...More

There's no lakes in the park. You can dip into the river or, even better, go for a swim in the sea, which is richt by the entrance.
