Have visited on several occasions and the gardens are always immaculate. The water courses are a joy to be around. You can also see the fresco's in the buildings . The main water feature was being renovated but did not spoil the pleasant atmosphere of the place.. Admission was 5 Euro each..Worth it for the 2 hours we were there..

Easy to find and we followed the P sign to find the large free car park. Fascinating walk up the car park steps and through the archways of the local houses to reach the entrance to Villa Lante. 5 euro entrance fee was quite acceptable. Wow, what a delightful garden on a lovely autumn day. Quite self contained and although... More

As palatal gardens go, this one is small but it also makes it easy to fully take in. The grounds contain a beautifully-landscaped garden where is situated a summer lodge. Maybe not as pristine as some (preserved decay) but one takes in the ambiance. Of note are the fountains and particularly the stone dining table.

The development of the Villa is largely attributed to Bishop Gambara and Bishop Motalto, although Villa Lante began to take shape, well before them. In 1498 Cardinal Raffaele Riario built a wall to enclose 22 hectares of land, for a hunting reserve. Some of the ground work done by others in the following decades continued the development of the property,... More

One Of the beat representation of the Italian school of Landscape architecture that effected the whole of Europe in style. The varied water play examples executed around the garden is a excellent representation of Italian landscape. The main difference between this one and Villa de Este is the sheer monumental size of the later in comparison to this one. The... More

I traveled from Rome with a friend by car and really enjoyed the entire day in the gardens. There is a small entrance fee, but worth it. Snacks, drinks and eating area are near the entrance. I spent hours and hours walking to see all the fountains, water features and gardens and enjoyed every minute of it. It is touted... More

To put things in perspective, I was able to do Bomarzo, its Gardens, Villa Lante and Villa Farnese on the same day and I did not run, for they are all a few miles off each other. Obviously, I had a car. Villa Lante is mostly a green Manieristic garden with wonderful hydraulic features that slope up between two villas... More

What a surprise. A 5km bus ride from Viterbo and a garden in the middle of what was a hunting park with 2 small hunting palaces originally founded by a Pope and developed over the Centuries since.

Garden was not that large. Interesting but not a must see attraction. Not many flowers. More fountains need to be operational.
