It overlooks Deep bay beach which is spectacular. You also get some other ocean views and turquoise sea. You can clearly seethe ship wreck that is in Deep bay.

Like a toy fort without its tin soldiers! It is a giant semi-circular gun emplacement dominating the approaches to St. John's Harbour. It is placed upon a hill on the harbour's south side. The lower interior is interesting to explore, for found there are dungeon-like rooms and a powder magazine. The ruin is also worth a visit for the magnificent... More

An interesting short steep walk. It is quite hot so prepare yourself, wear a hat and bring water. You can park at the end of the main road, right near wear there is a small walking bridge. The views on top are stunning! After the hike you can enjoy the beach at deep bay/take a swim.

Accessed from the north end of deep water bay bridge. You can get to the start point along a long dirt road and then across a footbridge. Climb to the top takes about 10-15 minutes. You would need trainers or walking shoes, I wouldn't recommend flip-flops. Great views from the top.

From the beach , north end, follow footpath. Fairly easy. Great views over St Johns. A bit of history unspoilt by Health and safety . Watch your way back down. No flipflops!

This is Another FREE Landmark, Its a good "Healthy" Climb up to the old ruins at the top. Not much of interest in the Fort itself, But the views are a perfect reason, to climb to the top. THe sunsets up here would be good, ( we did not ) Plus theres a great Bay next door ( Deep Bay... More

Fort Barrington is located just above Deep bay on the west coast. From the right hand end of the beach there is a pathway leading up to the Fort. It overlooks the bay including homes of Armani and Porsche. Great 360 views from the top. Probably not good to trek up in flip flops or bare feet, but worth the... More

This one is hard to find. We rented a car for the day and needed the GPS to find this spot. I felt it was worth the time to visit. I personally like the spots that are historic and interesting but also not crowded with tourists. This is off the beaten path and given you have to climb a big... More

A rustic fort built by the British in the 1700's that provides magnificent views of St. John’s Harbour and Deep Bay. A short 10 minute uphill walk to the building and up a flight of stairs is worth the fantastic photo opportunities and some cannons and it's nice and windy at the top. Be sure to wear a hat, sunscreen... More
