We saw the monument to V C Bird, which is a bust of him in color made out of unknown material, while searching for a geocache. Mr. Bird was the first Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda after independence from Britain. Unusually, as mentioned, the...More

This is a monument to Vere Cornwall Bird, first Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and who served from 1981 through to 1994. He pioneered the country's education and medical systems. So for such an important man comes an excellent monument. Many would see this...More

Its worth the drive by for a picture and a little history lesson from a good guide. The history is worth knowing but the monument is almost funny.

We went downtown Antigua to St. John's and I noticed a peculiar monument and didn't know what it was so I went closer to investigate. I took a photo there because I thought it was interesting.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared interesting details about this landmark. He explained why there were flowers placed at the base of the monument.
