As we were staying in a rental on Monk's Hill, we decided to take a walk up to the top and are so glad we did. Wonderful views over the harbors and interesting ruins from the old fort. The hike can be quite steep at times, but definitely worth it when you get to the top.

My wife, daughter, and I hiked this from our rental property about halfway up. Took about 30-45 minutes to walk up. The view at the top can't be beat. You can see pretty much all of the island with the exception of the western side (blocked by higher hills/mountains). Also of note.. there is the remains of an old Fort... More

Fort George was one of the first fortifications on the island and judging by the length of the curtain wall, it's still one of the largest. It's a bit of a trek - there are a couple of driveable roads that deteriorate into tracks that are still negotiable (with a decent 4x4 with proper ground clearance and tread on the... More

when we decided to visit Monk's Hill which should have really been a hike as opposed to a JEEP trip. We never realized how rough the ride was going to be until we were half way up. Because we chose to watch the sunset from the top it was too late to start hiking. We traveled as far up as... More

We traveled up to Monks Hill making it almost to top in our car. We had a short 600 meter walk to the top. Wearing good foot wear is recommended twenty minutes gets you to the top. This site is superb you can enjoy a great view of Falmouth Harbour, Nelson's Dockyard, and a turn around and St John's can... More

We last were here 30 years ago. Since then vegetation has overgrown the fort - and all really to see of that is the gate, gatehouse and some remaining walls. However, the views over the South and East of Antigua are wonderful. But it is hard work getting there - a two mile walk uphill as the track is too... More
