I was very impressed with Jos at Vela after talking with him about learning to kite. he was very patient and polite with me as a new student. he took the time and did not hurry. he covered all the grounds of safety and practiced re-enforcing the skills to control the kite and how to use it. following me in... My husband and I are beginner kiteboarders. We took a few semi private lessons from Jos Waterreus at Vela Sports Aruba who was so patience with us. Jos taught us within our comfort zone and safety always comes first. Aruba has flat water and no shorebreaks so easier for beginners except that the wind can be a little gusty. Also... More

I had a fantastic time doing kitesurf with Vela during my stay in Aruba. It was my first time ever, and my instructor Tymo was amazing and got me hooked to the sport!! I highly recommend Tymo to anyone looking to take kitesurfing lessons, but rest assured that everyone at Vela is very friendly and that they are excellent at... More

Definitely recommend them for yoga - both beach yoga and SUP yoga. Their yoga teachers are great (shout out to Adriana!). The beach yoga mats are actually attached to wooden boards, so you have a very stable surface. The SUP yoga is amazing!! We also used their stand up paddleboards just to paddle around the beach everyday. Service was always... More

This is a really nice crew, from Abby and the other staff at the desk to the instructors. After trying SUP (fun, but a little slow for me), windsurfing with Henri- a very patient guy (hard to keep falling off!) I decided to try kiteboarding. I wish I had started with that because for someone on the older end, four... More

I went to Aruba to windsurf and had a great trip thanks to Vela. They have the best windsurfing equipment on the island, I spent most of my time on pro edition (carbon) JP magic ride boards that were not brand new (I think from last year) but still in great condition. They have a fantastic selection of boards from... More

My husband and I had never windsurfed before, being from the middle of the USA there aren't opportunities for us to do so. We wanted to try it, we were on vacation! We were told we would have an hour instruction and an hour in the water. The instructor didn't introduce himself, still have no idea what his name was.... More

Dear kndn1987, First of all: our sincere apologies for this disappointing experience. Naturally, this is something we take very seriously as we honestly all want to share the fun and excitement we all have with windsurfing and our other water sports. In addition, this reply comes later than ideal as we have changed management in the meantime. However, we had... More

My son and I had great fun taking up windsurfing for the first time when we visited Aruba. While I'm a middle-aged mom who is not good at any type of sports, Astrid from Vela conveys the basics clearly and patiently and was very encouraging. We both had lots of fun and returned there many times during our stay at... More
