Going seeing the Pekelmeer salt mountains and salt flats was a must. I last saw them 14 years ago and seeing them again does not fail to impress. Don't underestimate the size of these salt mountains they are huge. The pink water is amazing to see. Pool after pool. Just by stopping at the side of the road, you can... More

One of our favorite drives is south end of Bonaire. The salt domes and salt pounds are fascinating, with changing colors and shadows. Farther around are the slave huts and a lighthouse.. Some years we have been lucky enough to see salt being loaded onto a ship.

We hired a tour guide in the square to take us to see the flamingos. Instead of going north like the ladies in the square told us we would see the flamingos, our guide took us south. He took us by the airport, which looks like a pink flamingo, past various beaches to the salt marshes and the towers of... More

It is fascinating to look at the massive mounds of salt and learn about how the process works. The crystalizing ponds are an unusual pink color, adding to their intrigue.

The pekelmeer is an historical part of Bonaire with a very nice view. While enjoying the salt hills, salt foam, the pink colored water at one side, there is a beatiful beach at the other side. Divers can enjoy nice views of the under water world.

A cool thing to see while driving around the southern tip of Bonaire! Bought both bath salts and cooking salt from a store in town- very affordable and high quality!

If you're in Bonaire, and looking to see stuff, this is worth a look. Whether on a tour or by taxi, it's interesting to see another side of Bonaire. Taxi drivers do tours of Bonaire and will take you wherever you want to go on the island for a set hourly rate. If you're touring the south side of the... More

Saly flats, salt mountains, pink lakes, and of course lots of sunshine. Also some most interesting former slave quarters. A must when in Bonaire.
